Meet the Creative Interns

Kennedy Barron

Major:

- RPTS with certificates in event management and tourism management

Favorite Food:

- My all time favorite food is pizza. I can eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert! Everyone that knows me knows that pizza is the only way to my heart!

My Style:

- My style is something that changes on a daily basis. I usually stick to a southern wardrobe and big, teased hair. I tend to spend the majority of my time in gym shorts and extra big t-shirts when I have nothing going on (and even sometimes when I do have things going on) but at least I'm always comfortable! 

Favorite Song:

- My current favorite song is definitely "We Should Be Friends" by Miranda Lambert. Her songs always get me singing along, but this one takes the cake. I can listen to it 10 times in a row and still love it! 

Fun Fact:

- My high school colors were maroon and white but our mascot was a longhorn! Rumor has it that an Aggie and a longhorn got together and created the school. 

What do you look forward to most in your time at Southern Jewlz:

- I am so excited to work with the other interns and learn new things from behind the scenes of one of my favorite boutiques. I have loved every minute of this experience so far and I know this summer is going to be a great one because of this!

Words to live by:

- When I am in doubt or worried I always remember one of my favorite Bible verses, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. It says "Rejoice always, pray continuously, give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." This is just such a great reminder to always pray and to always be thankful.

Summer Bucket List:

- This summer I absolutely have to go to the silo's in Magnolia. I am obsessed with Fixer Upper and if I don't go soon, I will probably lose my mind!

Can't live without:

- The thing that I can't live without is probably Diet Coke. I don't even care if its not actually good for me, I just have to have it in my system every single day! 

Neeli Hardison

Major:

- Marketing major with a focus in analytics and social media. 

Favorite Food:

- I could live off of chips and salsa, tacos, and sweet tea. Actually, I'm pretty sure I have tacos at least 5 times a week from Chuy's along with their creamy jalapeño. Sweet tea is a daily part of my life- very rarely will you find me without one in my hand.

My Style:

- My style changes depending on my mood and where I am going. If I am going out with friends I have more of an edgier style. Lots of heels and crop tops. For family gatherings or more sophisticated outings, I go with a classier look- like something you would find on the Southern Jewlz website. However, I am also all for a pair of nike shorts and a t-shirt when I am running errands or going to class... or when I am binge watching Netflix! My hair is pretty much always the same- straight and parted to the side with a touch of hair spray.

Favorite Song:

- Currently my favorite song is "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. This song always has me picturing my wedding day and just is so sweet to me. Another favorite of mine is "Flatliner" by Cole Swindell and Dierks Bentley because I have had the pleasure of seeing this performance live and their energy gives me chills even to this day when I listen to the song.

Fun Fact:

- I have been blessed to attend the Academy of Country Music Awards the last 3 years and somehow I always end up on TV... So fun fact: I tend to randomly be on TV sometimes!

What do you look forward to most in your time with Southern Jewlz?:

- I am definitely excited about the experience with social media/behind the scenes of what it takes to run a boutique. However, I am most excited about learning and absorbing as much as I can from Randa because she is so successful and I hope to one day be as successful as she has been. It is inspiring being around someone who is so driven. 

Words to live by:

- "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." -Romans 12:2

Surround yourself with great people, because the people you surround yourself with are a direct reflection of who you are. 

Summer Bucket List:

- I would love to gather a group of people, head to the beach, build a bonfire, and roast marshmallows.  

Can't live without:

I cannot live without my Cetaphil face-wash. I never feel clean until my face is clean.

Kortney Kruse

Major:

- I am currently a senior at Texas A&M University (aka the best school eva!) obtaining a degree in Marketing - Retail Buying and Management with a minor in Sports Management.

Favorite Food:

- This is an easy one! My favorite food is chicken strips (SO southern right!). You could take me to a 5 star steakhouse and I would still order chicken strips off of the kids menu! #noshame

My Style:

- During weekdays when I go to class, you can usually find me in a tshirt and Nike shorts or leggings. On the weekends I like to dress up a little more and I would consider my style casually cute!

Favorite Song:

- “Five More Minutes” by Scotty McCreery. I love listening to pop and country music!

Fun Fact:

- My sister and I have a YouTube channel! About a year ago we totally jumped out of our comfort zone and started one. It has been so much fun!!! You can find videos about beauty, fashion, vlogs, and more on our channel! Feel free to check us out here! 

What do you look forward to most in your time with Southern Jewlz?

- I am so honored to be a SJ intern this summer! I have admired Randa and her business for years and I can't believe I now am apart of the SJ Team! On a trip to College Station many years ago, I stopped by SJ and still have the first item I purchased. This internship is going to be an amazing learning opportunity for my future ambitions and goals. So much goes into running a successful business, I can’t wait to learn all of the BTS stuff that goes on. Bonus: I get to hang out with 3 fab ladies and Bucky the bulldog all day! :)

Summer Bucket List:

- Our family makes a trip to Seaside, Florida every year and I am so looking forward to our upcoming trip! If you visit Seaside, you have to have a Meltdown on 30A. It's a $8 grilled cheese, but trust me, you won't regret it!

Can't live without:

- Wet Brush - aka the miracle brush as I like to call it! Why the miracle brush you might ask? Because it works miracles on your hair! It used to take me forever to brush out my fine hair because of the tangles, but this has changed that! Seriously, if you don't have one, run to Target and get you one ASAP!!!

Bucky Carrabba - Honorary Intern

Major:

Making everyone feel super loved with a minor in sloppy kisses.

Food: 

Bacon.  Basically any kind of beef.  But then again basically any kind of meat.  Oh and all kinds of ice cream, too.  But my mom only let's me have a little bit at a time.  She says something about the milk content and I'm like just hand over the whole gallon already woman!!!

My Style: 

I really like my black harness aka my "puppy clothes".  I feel really safe and secure wearing it because my dad got me a GPS tracker on it so I can never get lost.  But then again sometimes mom takes it off (LIKE IN THIS PICTURE) and puts her girly stuff on me.  I'm a boy bulldog, but then again she's a really girly mom and she doesn't have a girl bulldog, so I go for it in small doses.

Favorite Song:

You know that song House Party by Sam Hunt?  That's my favorite, but only when you sing it with the words Dog Party instead.  That's like my theme song really.

Fun Fact:

I have the best bulldog breath in the whole world.  That's true every single day when it's opposite day.

What do you look forward to most in your time at Southern Jewlz?

I am so excited to welcome some more interns, because I look forward to showing them around and teaching them the way we do things around here.  I also am hoping I get some ice cream treats out of being so helpful.

Words to Live by: 

- When in doubt, roll over and wait for a belly rub.  And never ever let a human throw away any food without giving them a look of guilt.

Summer Bucket List:

- To NOT have to go swimming.  I get so scared that I'm going to drown every time, even though my parents got me a life jacket.  All they do is laugh and take pictures of me while I'm trying to keep kicking and breathing.  It's way too stressful.  I prefer to just lay out - so I'm hoping to get lots of sun bathing time.

Can't Live Without:

- I mean I'm not trying to sound like a suck up or anything, but I'm gonna say my parents.
